With much joy comes the announcement that our engagement is now official...

Last night I proposed officially to Kimberley Tara Parsley (and she accepted). It was quite a lovely beautiful thing. I wanted it to be special. I wanted it to be worthy of both her and the Saj. I wanted it to be creative....

So several weeks ago I came up with an idea and waited impatiently for the ring's arrival (which was yesterday). With it's arrival and a seemingly impeccably gorgeous day the opportunity seemed ripe at hand. I had my mother take Kimberley away for a couple of hours. While she was away I set up my proposal....

When Kimberley returned with my mom she arrived at the back door only to find a card and a series of "fruit leather" strips leading up the stairs to the card. The card expressed my joy in finding her sweetness and enjoying her. This was followed by a second card on the inner door which said "You dream of rice but I dream of you...." it was in fact a clue and a play on the fact that she drinks "Rice Dream" because she can't drink milk. So inside the fridge was a container of chocolate rice dream (women like chocolate...right?) and another "card/clue". This one spoke of her aroma and scent and enjoying her freshness and referenced lightly those things that help to make ones hugs and kisses fresh as well of a promise of "Green Tea & Sympathy" (Kimberley being a big fan of green tea). This led to the bathroom where hidden in the medicine cabinet was a tube of green tea toothpaste and deoderant with green tea extract, the latter being made by a company called "J/A/S/O/N". Besides these was a white paper crane, the next clue/card, which read "Are you going to Scarborough Faire? Parsley, Saj...Will marry in Thyme!" This led her to the spice rack in which 4 little bags of spices were found; each bag respectfully containing Parsley, sage (Saj), rosemary (Will Marry), and Thyme (in Time) along with the next clue/card.

The next card was a beautiful dark gothic fairie card in which I wrote a poem describing her beautiful dark brown eyes and the feel of her dark hair intertwining around my fingers. How finding her was like finding a hidden treasure. And how sweet her love is for me. How it was like drawing bars of golden buried in a hole in the wall of a room that was once empty but is now filled with her love. This was a clue to the empty bedroom which she painted and patched the plaster, excepting a large hole in a closet, where I stuffed 5 bars of gourmet chocolate each wrapped in gold foil along with the next clue. One that spoke of how I would "Comb the world in search of her...and alas now I have found her and her love is sweet." This was to refer to a container filled with fresh bee honeycomb and placed beneath an old bee hive in my eaves. This would lead her outside where I had strewn 8 dozen worth of roses to form pathways across the yard.

The final and last clue referred to roses, and as she read I stood by the rose bush in my yard at the end of a pathway of roses. In front of me was a lone rose (er...cause all my rose bushes blossoms fell off a few weeks ago so I had to jury rig a rose to the bush....*hee hee*). Inside the lone rose was a ring made of rose gold and set upon it 5 diamonds that glistened with tiny rainbows in the sunlight.

When she found it and cuddled her head into my shoulder I took up the ring and said to her "Kimberley Tara Parsley....will you marry me?" and she nodded and softly whispered into my ear...."YES"

 : )

As of this time we do not have an official date as so much is hinged logistically on the sale of my house, etc. But it is looking mostly likely sometime in the Spring. For those of you who've known me for years and have been praying for me for many of those years....THANK YOU!!!!

We now have a "date".... May 13th, 2006...and we have a beautiful location The Carousel House at Lighthouse Park
